When we first entertained the possibility of Pearl Street Jams, we weren't trying to start a movement. We just wanted to do something simple: give local and regional musicians and artists a warm, intimate space to play, and to give the La Crosse community a reason to gather around live music.
Four installments later, that simple idea has taken on a life of its own.
"The gallery is filled yet you can tell that each person is really listening. It's community."
Each Pearl Street Jam has had its own character. The room fills up, the lights soften, and something shifts. The gallery walls, all hung with original work, become a backdrop for an event that brings together everyone who attends. People come as strangers and leave having shared something. Which is, in fact, the whole point.
We've kept the format of Jams intentional, with a purposefully low cover fee that goes directly to the artists performing. Just honest music played well, in a space that respects both the art on the walls and the art in the room.

Which brings us to some news we're genuinely proud to share: Pearl Street Gallery has received a La Crosse City Community Impact Grant. This recognition means more than funding, it's an acknowledgment that what's been happening in our space matters to this city. And it changes what we're able to do next.
Thanks to the grant, Pearl Street Jams is going monthly. Every month, live music. Every month, artists paid and supported. Every month, a reason to show up and listen.
We're grateful to every person who came out to one of the first four shows, to the musicians who trusted us with their music, and to the City of La Crosse for believing in what we're building here. The best installments are still ahead.
We hope to see you on the 9th!
